Advancing sustainable, efficient, and ethical livestock farming

Moderated by Perrine Florent, project officer at INRAE and part of the AgroServ management board, we look at:

Real-world impact: Prof. Cecilia Cajarville, a successful applicant in AgroServ's Transnational/Virtual access programme, presents her upcoming project, "Enhancing Sustainable Beef Production." She  explains how she is benefitting from AgroServ to access SRUC’s respiration chambers (Scotland) and IRTA’s beef stations (Spain) to validate a new feed additive designed to reduce methane emissions by up to 17%.

Advanced tools: we also showcase other services from SmartCow in AgroServ's Catalogue, exploring the offer of services from Scotland's Rural College Beef Research Centre with Carol-Anne Duthie (SRUC) and the introduction of Frédéric Dehareng (CRA-W) to SpectroCraw—a standardized spectral database service available to all users.

How new natural boosters and real‑world wheat trials reveal what helps plants cope with heat and dry spells.

A discussion with:

Iman Mirmazloum, Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Plant Physiology and Plant Ecology at the Institute of Agronomy of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences; Iman is one of the first researchers who applied to the AgroServ open calls and he and his team are now moving forward toward the completion of their project titled: "Utilizing Biostimulants to enhance the productivity of Sensitive Horticultural Crops performance under Abiotic Stress Conditions".

Valentina Spanic, Researcher in the Department for Breeding & Genetics of Small Cereal Crops at the Agricultural Institute Osijek. Valentina applied to AgroServ in its second call for project proposals, with the project: "Drought Stress in Winter Wheat: Unfolding the Challenges".

Dr Heba Ibrahim, AgroServ's Central Access Manager, will join the discussion to address any question related to the currently open 4th Transnational/Virtual Access Call for research projects from AgroServ.

MIRRI and EU-OPENSCREEN: Synergies in Biological and Chemical Resources

Explore how MIRRI-ERIC and EU-OPENSCREEN's complementary services advance agroecological research. Featuring presentations on microbial resources and chemical screening applications, with insights from Prof. Ana Martinez (CIB-CSIC) and Dr. Maryline Calonne-Salmon (UCLouvain).

This AgroServ Connect webinar showcases real-world applications and opportunities for accessing research infrastructure services through the AgroServ project.

On April 29th 2024 AgroServ hosted a public webinar to present the project's mission and showcase some of the research services that applicants to the transnational and cross-disciplinary catalogue can get access to.

The event anticipated the launch of the 2nd call for projects from AgroServ. Korinna Varga, Head of the Agricultural Policy Research Group at the Hungarian Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, presented the current policy landscape around agroecology in Europe and the many opportunities available to network and move forward with innovation and research.
